Frame spacers are used by beekeepers to help manage the spacing of their frames for easy inspections and extracting. Some beekeepers will use two per super, while others will only use one depending on the number of frames they use. Chat Online23.03.2011· If you''re using less than 10 frames, you''ve made the decision you''re going to purposely violate bee space, usually because you want the honey frames drawn out further for easier uncapping. So spacing doesn''t have to be perfect - you can eyeball it. For me, it''s about one index finger-width between frames. N.

Chat OnlineDoes anyone have experience in running 8 or 9 frames in a 10-frame hive? What are your thoughts on it? It looks so much easier for inspections if the bees don''t mess up the extra space. The ads for the spacers refer only to honey supers, but I''ve seen videos of whole hives run with 9 frames.

Chat OnlineDescription. Use this beehive frame spacing tool in a 10 frame super to space 9 drawn frames easily. After frames are drawn, if the beekeeper uses only 9 frames, bees will thicken each comb, making future uncapping much easier! Note: Only works in 3/4" boxes; does not work in 7/8" boxes.
Chat Online08.03.2011· So now you know why we put 10 frames in a 10-frame box. The system is designed to provide the proper bee space. I find that starting off with 10 works best to get the bees to build straight combs. After a year or two, when things start to get tight in the box, you can remove one and space the rest.
